The
QuickVue Dipstick Strep A test allows for the rapid qualitative
detection of Group A Streptococcal antigen directly from
patient throat swab specimens, or confirmation of presumptive
Group A Streptococcal colonies recovered from culture.
The test is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis
of Group A Streptococcal infection.
The QuickVue Dipstick Strep A Test is a lateral flow immunoassay
utilizing Quidel's patented antibody-labeled particles
(within 5 minutes). The test detects either viable or
nonviable organisms directly from throat swabs or culture
colonies. |
|
To perform the test, a throat swab specimen is collected.
Antigen is extracted from the swab specimen with Reagents
A and B. The Dipstick is then added to the extracted sample. We
have made changes regarding Quality Control (QC) recommendations
in the package insert. These changes were effective March
2002. QC requirements for test systems that are waived
under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of
1988 (CLIA) are subject to revision by the Centers for
Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Click here to
view the full text of Quidel's Technical Bulletin announcing
these changes. Using the menu on the left, click on "Package
Insert" or "NCCLS" to view the updated
information. |
